Due to his experience in sports, Neil is highly skilled in lower limb and upper limb injuries. He places a strong emphasis on targeted exercise prescription, and has experience from the acute phase through healing to returning to peak physical condition. He has developed numerous technical skills through post-graduate training including football rehabilitation, spinal manipulation, knee and shoulder injuries, core stability training and specialist tendonopathy treatment.
Neil has a BSc in Physiotherapy from Northumbria University and a Postgraduate Diploma with Merit in Football Rehabilitation from Edge Hill University, Lancashire.
Neil was a professional footballer including for Wigan Athletic and Chester City. He qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2006 after retiring from football. He has spent much of his career as a First Team Sports Physiotherapist for Premier League and Championship football clubs including Wigan Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City, as well as Northampton Saints Rugby Club. Most recently, he was Head of Performance Medicine at Cirque du Soleil, responsible for all aspects of physiotherapy provision, prevention and care for over 40 elite performers.
